Our Year 7 students are building a Japanese style garden near the Library. What advice would you give to them about the survival of plants in different weather conditions including EXTREME weather conditions? Consider all that you have observed and discovered during our different investigations.

From our investigation I think that for the Japanese garden if the year 7's would like a snap dragon plant in there garden it would have to live in:
Half shade half sun
some water for the plant-maybe twice a day
Not to much water not to little
Not to much sun but not to much shade
That is what I have found out by our investigation for our snap dragon plant.

In my investigation I found out that the best places to put plants are in half sun and half shade. All plants need some water but not too much water or too little.
I discovered that if you give the plant too much water most of the soil will ge washed away. Also if you give the plant no water the leaves get brown and the
flowers fall off.
I discovered that if you put a plant where there is lots of wind the stem and the leaves start to get really droopy. When you put the plant in full shade the leaves curl up and get brown.
So I think the best place to put a plant wound be in half sun and half shade, and you would give the plant not too much water and not too little water so give it in between.

From our investigation on how extreme weather effects plants this is the type of conditions for the plants I would suggest.
*Part shade
Because if you put it in the shade all the time and give it no sunlight the leaves shrivelle up, the plants lean on its side, flowers die and leaves fall off.
*Part sun
If ypou give it too much sun the plants leaves burn and turn yellow,It also dries out the dirt.
*Moderate amount of water
If you give your plant to much water it's soil washes away and the leaves are droopy.
But if you give it no water it has no water to suck up to stay alive. No buds grow and the soil dries up.
*A little bit of wind
Because if you give it to much wind it gets wind burnt and starts to grow on its side and the soil turns green and dries.

From pur investigation With our snap dragon these are the conditions we did.
Sun
If you put in full sun the leaves will start to burn and die over time and if you give it not enough sun the plant will not get the light and coulor from the sun it it will die.
Water
If you give it to much water the soil will get washed away and will fall over because the roots will not be able to hold on to the soil. If you give it no water it will not get enough water and die. So give it the right amt of water.
Wind
Do not put it in full wind because it will start to grow on 1 side. the soil also turned green so it needs a lot of water.
The best conditions to put a snapdragon is in a sunny spot put not to much and the moditrite amt of water.

From our investigation I found out that too little water effects the plant because the soil gets dry, all the flowers fell off, it grew on an angle and the buds didn't grow. Too much water effects the plant because the stem gets droopy, the soil got washed away, the flower buds fell off and all the flowers dropped off.
Too much wind kills the plant because the flowers got pale, the soil turned green, the soil got dry and the plant shunk.
Full sun is bad for the plant because the leaves burn, the soil dried out, the plant stopped growing and no more flower buds grew. No sunlight is bad for the plant because the plant lost colour,it didn't grow and it grew on an angle.
I think you need not too much not too little water, not too much not too little sunlight and protecy the plant from the wind.

The best condistions are:
1/ PART SUN PART SHADE
because in full sun the leaves will burn and if it is in full shade the roots will rot.
2/ MODERATE WATER
because to much water will make the plant loose most of its soil and not anough water will make the soil dry and it will grow on an angle.
3/ MODERATE WIND
because to much wind will make the plant dry and give it wind burn.
The plants will grow best with part sun and part shade,moderate water and moderate wind.
From the experiment we did I think:
. Full sun is no good for the plants because the leaves get burnt and the stem will become droopy, but if you put it NO SUN-LIGHT the leaves could lose colour( around the bottom.)the plant will shrivale up and will eventually fall off. You should put your plant in some SUN AND SOME SHADE.
.If you put your plant in a windy enviroment the soil will quickly dry up and the petals will loose colour and become hard and crunchy and hard. you will notice that the stem will go on a lean and will tip the pot over. You should pick a spot with some wind but water it so the soil won't drie up.

From our investigation the best conditions for a plant are:
* Not full sun because the leaves will burn and the water wil dry up very qiuckly. The flowers will start dying. However sun is bad for a plant because the plant will lose colour and the leaves will shrivel up. The plant will not grow any taller. After a while the plant will die.
* No water for a plant will make the the plant shrivel up and it will make the soil very dry. Too much water will make the stems and leaves droopy. It will also lose some soil because it will wash away.
*Too much wind will make the plant tilt to one side and make the flowers lose colour. It will also not grow and the leaves will become droopy.
I think that the plants in the garden that the year 7's are making need and have part sun, part shade, not too much water not too little and maybe some wind but not to much and not to little.

From our investigations the best condotions that a plant needs to grow with would be:just the right amout of water. If the p[lant gets too much water that can kill the plant because the soil gets to wet and the roots rot.If you give no water the plant will also die because the soil gets to dry. Going to the sun, too much sun will make the plant die because the plant drys up. If you don't give the plant sun exposure it will lose its color and die. Too much wind will make the flowers fall and then die.

Don't plant plants where they're going to be in full because the leaves will get burnt. Don't plant plants somewhere where they're not going to get any sun either. Plants need some sun and some shade.
Water
Don't give a plant too much water or too little because if you give it too much water it will have droopy leaves and if you give it too little the leaves will fall off.
Wind
Don't put a plant in a place where it will get full wind because the plant will grow on an angle and the flowers will become pale.
The best conditions for a plant is for it to have a bit of sun and a bit of shade and able to get some water and not to much wind.

From our investigation the best conditions for a plant is firstly to give it a combination of water and sun and to not give it too much of one thing. If it is put in full sun, the leaves will get burnt, the plant will shrink and the flowers will die. Don't put it in full shade or the flowers and leaves will droop. If the plant recieves excess wind then the plant will lean on end and the flowers will be pale.

From our investigation I found our that full sun effects thje growthn of a plant. Bacause the leaves will be burnt, the plant started with some flowers and they fell of.
No water effects the growth of the plant. Because the soil will go dry, the flowers died and the flowers fell off, the buds didn`t grow.
No sunlight effects the growth of the plant.The leaves near the bottem of the plant lose the cloour, thye plant was leaning to one side.
Excess wind effects the growth of the plant.The leaves weat droopy and the stems were droopy.
Excess water effects the growth of the plant.The soil got washed away and the flowers were droopy.
The bestcondition that will soot the plant is some sunlight and some shade.

You should give your plants some water, protection from the wind, some sun and some shade. If you give it too much water it will lose soil, the flowers would drop off, it won't grow taller and the roots would come out. If you give it no water it it will have dry soil, the leaves would fall off and axillary and terminal buds won't grow.
From my groups Investigation we have found out that...
shade and sun
The plant needs to have a little bit of sun light but not to much because the leaves will turn brown
and shrivell up. Also you need some shade but not to much because the plant will go on a lean. I think the best thing for the plant is half of the day give it shade and the other half of the day give it full sun.
Water
Plant can not survive from no water
because the soil will get dry,the leaves will fall off and grows and then the plant just shrivells up and the flowers die.To much water is very bad for the plant it makes the stem droopy and it stays the same hieght all the time and also the soil washes away. So the best thig for the plant is to give the plant 50-70ml every 2 days.
Wind
The plant can not last with wind you need to protect it loses lots of keves and the flowers go pale. it can get some wind but not all the time.
So what would be best for the plant is not to much water but about 50-70ml of water. half of the day shade and other half sun and only some wind not all the time.

form our investigations the bets conditions would be just the right amout of water sunlight and wind exposure. Cause if the plant gets too much water it will die becuase the roots rot or it may die cause the mud has too much water and the plant can't hold on. Too much sunlight will kill the plant cause it drys up and if it has full shade the plant will lose its coler and die. To much wind will also kill cause the leaves fall of.

From our investigation we found out that if you give a plant to much sun it will die because most plants need only need a little bit of sun because if you give the plant to much sun the leaves will burn,leaves change colour.It is not such a good idea to give a plant to much water because the stem and leaves will get droopy and a lot of the soil will get washed away.But if you give a plant no water the flowers will full off and the leaves will be dead.If you give a plant to much wind there flowers will be pale it will grow on a angle,droopy leaves.
From my investigation it is not a good idea to give a plant to much water,wind or sun because most plants need a little bit of every thing.

Excess Water
I found out that if you give your plant too much water the plant will loose it's soil.It's stem also gets very droopy and lots of the flower buds fall off.
Full Sun
When a plant is in full sun the leaves will burn and turn brown.The soil is also dry and no new flower buds grew.It also didn't grow very much and the stem changed colour.
No Water
When we gave our plant no water the leaves turned brown and crumbly.Lots of the flowers died and fell off.The buds didn't grow and the leaves started to fall off.
No Sunlight
When the plant had no sunlight the flowers died.The stem was always droopy and the leaves shrivalled up.The plant didn't grow any taller and the bottom leaves died first.
Excess Wind
The plant grew on an angle away from the fan.The roots from the plant were coming out of the soil and the petals were coming off.The plant didn't grow very tall and the leaves were always droopy.
I think the best conditions for a plant is to have the right amount of water and to have some shade,sun and wind. By Alanah

From my investigation I discovered that you shouldn't put your plant in full sun because the leaves will burn because of the heat of the sun. You should plant your plant in a place with not too much sun and not too little. No sunlight is not ggod for a plant because the leaves wiil lose coulor and shrivill up. You shouldn't give it no water or plant it in a place where it gets no water because the leaves will turn brown because the plant needs water to keep the leaves green and healthy. Give your plant the right amount of water so it can stay alive for as long as possible. if you plant a plant in a very windy place the plants soil will dry up quickly. The best conditions for a plant to grown in are part sun part shade and 50ml of water daily.
From my investigation the best condistion for plants to grown in are not to plant it in full sun because it will burn the leaves and will die, make sure to put it in half sun half shad, give it a good amount of water, because if you give lots of water everyday the soil will wash away, if you give little water oi won't grow as fast.
They should plant in a safe invierment with other plants, don't plant it in a really windy palce because the water will dry out the water that you give it.

In my investigation we found out that the worst conditions for a plant to grow in are:
* Full sun. When a plant is put into full sun the plant will die because the sun burns the leaves and stem and they turn a different colour.
* No sunlight. when a plant is put into a place with no sunlight the leaves lose colour and will die because the plant is not getting enough sunlight.
* No Water. When a plant is cared for with no water the soil will become dry and the plant will die because it is not getting water.
* Excess Water. If you give a lot of water the plants stem will go droopy and a lot of soil will wash away.
* Excess Wind. If a plant gets excess wind the plant will have pale flowers and the plant will grow on an angle.
You need to make sure your plants get a little sun, 50ml of water a day and are planted in a place that is sheltered from the wind.
